Personal Travel Managers Ready for ‘Future-Fit’ Makeover

TravelManagers is crossing the ditch this week to descend on New Zealand’s largest South Island city, Christchurch for its annual National Conference. Close to 200 personal travel managers have pre-registered to attend three-day event, which will be the company’s first offshore conference since 2019.

Activities will centre around the city’s Te Pae Convention Centre: a state-of-the-art facility which was constructed as part of Christchurch’s post-earthquake rebuild. As a symbol of resilience, the venue fits neatly with conference theme of ‘Future Fit’, while the choice of Christchurch serves as a nod to TravelManagers’ heritage: its parent company, House of Travel, was founded there in 1987.

Conference participants will attend tradeshows and presentations from more than 80 participating partner suppliers, as well as hearing from some of Australia’s most respected experts on resilience, innovative and adaptation, including 2023 Australian of the Year, Taryn Brumfitt. Renowned futurist, Gihan Perera, will deliver the opening keynote address and facilitate a workshop entitled, ‘Step Up: Making Time For What Matters Most’, while a second workshop, ‘Optimising Mental Fitness’, will be facilitated by Paul Taylor from the Mind Body Brain Institute, drawing on his experiences and expertise as a neuroscientist, exercise physiologist, nutritionist and former British Royal Navy Aircrew Officer.

In addition, they will sample some of New Zealand’s most iconic tourism experiences, with an extensive programme of local sightseeing activities and pre- and post-conference famil experiences in iconic Kiwi destinations such as Akaroa, Fiordland and Rotorua.

TravelManagers’ annual National Conference runs 31 August – 2 September: follow #TM2023CHC for updates.
