Eight Game-Changing Benefits of Our Induction Program

Eight Game-Changing Benefits of Our Induction Program

One of the most frequently asked questions from travel advisors considering a move to TravelManagers is, “how will you support me through this change?”

We get it – change can be scary. It can also be exciting, rewarding and, with our help, the best thing that’s ever happened in your career. We’ve spent the past twenty years perfecting the layers of support we provide during (and beyond) those first, crucial months of becoming a personal travel manager (PTM), with our induction program as the foundation on which everything else is built. We believe it’s the best induction program in the industry – here’s why:

1. Get personal with in-person training

As a company that’s committed to helping you build your business to suit you it might seem strange that our induction program is based in our National Partnership Office location in Sydney. That’s because, unlike many home-based brands that rely on virtual or condensed training, our in-person program is designed to create a relaxed and supportive setting in which our newest PTMs can connect with their peers, get to know our support teams and familiarise themselves with our systems.

2. Time and space to absorb and ask questions

Our induction program combines practical learning, hands-on experience and team-building opportunities – there’s a lot to take in, but we also want you to have fun. Our four-day format spreads out the delivery of new information so that you have the time you need to absorb that juicy content, ask questions and helps you to create strong connections with our NPO team to follow up at a deeper level on any areas.

3. Quality time with the TravelManagers family

We’re proud of our collaborative, supportive culture and the values that define us, and we’re always excited to welcome new members of the TravelManagers family. Another benefit of our four-day format is that it provides extra time for you to bond with your new colleagues and really start to connect with the TravelManagers culture. As well as mingling with other PTMs, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to mingle with the NPO team and get to know some of the people who will play a key role in your future success.

4. Tried and trusted format, tailored delivery

Every month, we welcome a fresh intake of new PTMs to our NPO office in Sydney, and although the core induction program remains the same every time, we’ve built in just the right amount of flexibility to ensure we still cater to individual needs. We’ll walk you through every aspect of the business, from systems training to customer relationship management, and introduce you to your support teams including accounts, marketing

and supplier relations. You’ll get to know your Business Partnership Manager (BPM) and learn more about the mentoring and support they provide to all PTMs.

5. A one-stop-shop to set you up for success

When we promise to set you up with all the necessary tools you need for success. During your induction, we’ll get you kitted out with an array of practical resources, including:

    • headshots for your website and personal brand and marketing
    • a start-up stationery kit
    • supplier lists and agent logins
    • operations and procedures manuals
    • licenses such as ATAS, IATA, and ATIA membership
    • travel technology installation
    • a customisable marketing program
    • a modular website that you can personalise
    • a newsletter system for email marketing

6. Our investment in your success

If you’re not based in Sydney, you might be worried about whether the costs involved in attending. That’s why we provide PTMs who live outside of Sydney with return flights and accommodation near our office. Many of our new PTMs form lasting bonds of friendship and support with their fellow inductees during the social hours at the end of the day.

7. A single piece in a much larger puzzle

When you’ve completed your induction program, you won’t be thrown out of the nest and expected to fly on your own – your induction is a single component of a much broader onboarding process. It starts before you join us in Sydney, with an online, instructor-led Amadeus course so you can get to know our GDS system. Once you’ve completed the induction training, you will receive ongoing mentoring, coaching, and access to support as you settle into your new role. Each department will regularly check in after the induction training, to see if you need any additional assistance. And of course, our NPO team is always just a call or email away if you need them.

8. Don’t just take out word for it.

It’s easy for us to promise an industry-leading induction program, but we’re sure you’d prefer to know what our PTMs have to say about their own induction experiences. Many report that they’ve never previously been offered anything as comprehensive or supportive, and that they emerge feeling confident and well-equipped, with a clear sense that they are in safe hands. They begin their TravelManagers journey feeling connected and confident, because they’ve already met our NPO support teams and

they know who to reach out to when different situations arise. Our newest PTMs are among our most valuable resources, with their honest feedback helping us to fine-tune the process for future inductees.
