Connection: The Key to the Travel Industry?

Connection sits at the heart of our industry. In the richness of life, true wealth lies in the value of our connections. This is why we have chosen Connection as this year’s theme for our annual national conference, to be held in Hobart this August. We asked our Executive General Manager, Michael Gazal, to tell us more.

In the richness of life, true wealth lies in the value of our connections. This is why we’ve chosen ‘Connection’ as this year’s theme for our annual national conference to be held in Hobart this August. We asked our Executive General Manager, Michael Gazal, to tell us more.

What is the relevance of Connection as this year’s conference theme?

Connection runs through every aspect of a personal travel manager’s (PTM’s) journey. With staying true to who they are, nurturing self-awareness and resilience, and moving forward with intention.

With the network, strengthening relationships among PTMs, with the NPO team, partner suppliers and the wider travel industry network.

With community, people connect through local places, shared interests, and trusted personal circles. These ties offer grounding, strength, and opportunities. With customers, moving beyond service to create meaningful and memorable experiences.

And lastly, connect with the earth and value our planet and all it gives, valuing its people, animals, and cultures and honouring the shared stories that bind us together.

How does Connection influence the way TravelManagers does business?

A sense of connection has the power to elevate what we do from something purely transactional into something meaningful and lasting.

When we ask our customers what sets our PTMs apart, they frequently respond, “They get me, so they know what I need.” Our empathy and understanding resonate most strongly and enable us to deliver exactly what they need.

How will the conference translate the concept of Connection into practical applications?

Anyone who’s attended our national conference knows that, at its heart, the entire three-day experience revolves around opportunities to catch up with friends and colleagues, creating new connections and renewing existing bonds forged over many years together in the travel trenches.

More details about our conference will be available closer to the time. But I can confirm that Connection will be part of every conference touchpoint. This includes plenary sessions, keynote addresses, and the community event, which is a crowd favourite every year.

Connection isn’t just a conference buzzword for us; it’s the foundation for everything we do.
